<div itemprop="description">ULCH, Darrell - in his 81st year. Has gone to be reunited with his wife Jeannette &ldquo;Jan&rdquo; (December 03, 2013). And the two shall again be as one. Always a part of our lives and forever in our hearts. <br />Darrell is survived by his children Kim Giammarco (Don), Darren Ulch (Nancy) and Bradley Ulch (Sandy Smith). <br />His grandchildren Joseph Nero (Melissa), Lindsay Giammarco, Melanie and Brandon Ulch and Danielle Ulch. His great-grandchildren Abbi Winny and Aria Rose Nero.<br />He will be sadly missed by his brother Donald Ulch (Hennie) from Kingsville ON and his sister Eva Phelps from Detroit, Michigan. <br />He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. <br />Darrell worked for Bell Canada from 1954-1990. He would spend hours writing poetry and woodcarving in his spare time. Darrell enjoyed camping and taking trips with Jan in their trailer, travelling and vacationing with friends. He was known for his wonderful sense of humour and playing practical jokes. His compassion for others was evident, he was always there to offer &lsquo;help&rdquo; to anyone in need. <br />His family would like to thank all the staff on the 6th floor of the Welland Hospital, especially Dr. Daniel for his care and compassion. A very special &lsquo;Thank You&rsquo; to Cami D&rsquo;Uva and the staff at Woolcott Wing for their compassion and care throughout Darrell&rsquo;s journey. He loved all of you and appreciated all you were able to do for him and the family. To the &lsquo;Angels&rsquo; of St. Charles Retirement Tower. You were always there for Darrell, to listen and give hugs. You took the time to listen as he would recite some of his poems. For the sixteen months he spent with you, we &lsquo;Thank You&rsquo; for your compassion and concern. <br /><br />In keeping with Darrell&rsquo;s wishes cremation has taken place. Friends will be received on Wed Jan 28th at PLEASANTVIEW FUNERAL HOME (entrance off Merrittville at the corner of Hwy #20) 905-892-1699 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.<br />Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Thurs Jan 29th at the Parish Community of St. Kevin&rsquo;s Roman Catholic Church (307 Niagara St., Welland) at 10 am. Rite of Committal and inurnment to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens.<br />In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Woolcott Wing of the Welland Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
