Oatway, Helen (nee: Jenkins, Climenhage)
January 5, 2016 - May 13, 2016
Peacefully, on Friday May 13, 2016, at the NHS - Port Colborne site, at the age of 93 years. Beloved wife of the late Charles Climenhage (1968), and the late George Oatway (1994). Loving mother of Perry Climenhage (Lillian), and Neil Climenhage. Helen will be fondly remembered by her step-children David Climenhage (Judy), Sherrin Fletcher (Kerry), and by her 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by 3 children Randy, Mark, and Pamela Climenhage, as a result of Cystic Fibrosis at a very young age during the era when little was known about the disease or how to treat it, also by her brothers Harry, Fred, and Robert Jenkins. Helen was the happiest when spending time with her family and friends, and remained active into her retirement. Skating with her friends in St. Catharines until the age of 87. She was a role model of how to age gracefully, keeping an active social life, a sharp mind and overcoming all the challenges of living into your 90’s. Helen was thankful to have celebrated her 93rd birthday with her friends from the skating club and most of her family. In accordance with Helen’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorial donation in memory of Helen may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Canada, and can be arranged by calling the funeral home directly. Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to PLEASANTVIEW FUNERAL HOME, 905-892-1699. Online condolences may be made at www.pleasantviewcemetery.ca
