<div itemprop="description">SMITH, Ralph. It is with great sorrow our family announces Ralph&rsquo;s passing on Sunday February 21st, 2016. Following a courageous battle with cancer, we lost Ralph at the age of 72. Ralph&rsquo;s devoted wife Helen will forever cherish the time she had with her husband, true love of her life and best friend. Helen will deeply miss her amazing husband, who was taken far too soon. Dad&rsquo;s legacy will live on in the hearts of his children Todd Smith, Brad Smith (Christine), and Brenda Smith (Brian). Ralph touched the lives of his step children Brittney Laroche (Jamie) and Taylor Millar (Brent) in the short time they had with him. Grandpa will be fondly remembered by grandchildren Angeline, Jordan, Brianne, Kaileigh, and Evinn. Ralph will be sadly missed by his sister Marion Pearce (Bob), and sister-in-law Charlene Thomasson (Vic). Predeceased by his wife of 49 years and mother of his children, Pat (2011). Ralph retired from a lifelong career at Atlas Steel in 2002. He was a proud volunteer firefighter in Fonthill for 42 years where he made many great friends in the community. Retirement didn&rsquo;t last long for Ralph, he enjoyed working for Fleet Rental Golf Cart for 6 years. In 2011, Smitty became an integral part of the Pleasantview Funeral Home family. Working at the funeral home allowed Ralph to help people through a difficult time and be the kind, loving, compassionate man he truly was. Family invites friends to PLEASANTVIEW FUNERAL HOME (2000 Merrittville Highway, 905-892-1699) on Wednesday February 24th from 2-4 pm, 6-9 pm and Thursday February 25th from 1- 1:45 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2 pm. Ralph was truly the definition of a great man, full of love, laughter, integrity, generosity, wisdom and compassion for everyone that came into his life. All who knew him were truly blessed to have had Ralph in their lives. He will be forever missed. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Walker Family Cancer Centre and Niagara Peninsula Children&rsquo;s Centre School Authority, where real miracles happen every day, would be greatly appreciated.</div>
