<div itemprop="description">McElhanney, Robert Gordon (Bob) <br />On Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Linhaven Home in St. Catharines, Bob passed away peacefully in his 99th year. Beloved husband of Evelyn. Loving father of William of Edmonton, Susan (Douglas) Hunt of St. Catharines, David (Sue) of Calgary. Dear grandfather of Shane, Conor, Kerry, Douglas, Rebecca (Scott) Baechler, and Corbin, and great-grandfather of Hannah and Sebastian Baechler. Predeceased by his sisters Janet McElhanney and Ruth Pepper, and his brother Hugh McElhanney. He will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, as well as his family and friends. <br />Bob was born in Vancouver, and graduated with a B.A.Sc. degree in Mining Engineering from UBC. He served as a Flight Lieutenant in the RCAF from 1942-45. Bob spent his business career with Dorr Oliver in Canada and the United States, retiring as a Senior Vice President of the international divisions. He was a proud member of the Ontario Association of Professional Engineers. In his retirement years in Burlington, Bob was active with Wellington Square United Church, Habitat for Humanity and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Bob and Evelyn loved to travel, spend time at the cottages on Lake Simcoe and Valdes Island, and help family and friends with many projects. <br />In accordance with Bob&rsquo;s wishes, cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends at Silver Spire United Church, 366 St. Paul Street, St. Catharines on Saturday, October 17th, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. A Memorial Service will be celebrated in the church following the visitation at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations can be made to C.N.I.B., Silver Spire United Church, or a charity of your choice.
